Since his first campaign for Congress in 2002, Mike Turner has spent over $200,000 on accounting services. He has consistently paid NK Baur & Associates Inc., an accounting and compliance firm based in Columbus and headed by former Ohio GOP Finance Director Natalie Baur.
However, in November 2006 he made a strange, unexplained $23,400 payment for accounting services toKentner Sellers, a Vandalia, Ohio firm. This is large accounting bill occurred only a few days prior to his $115,200.89 payment to a Dayton litigation firm. Why did Turner need to pay so much for extra accounting services?
“It seems odd that Mike Turner would need to spend over $23,000 on additional accounting services. What is more concerning, though, is that this came at the same time as his huge, unexplained legal payment to a Dayton defense firm,” said Neuhardt campaign spokesman Michael McGovern. “It is unlikely that these two large, nearly simultaneous payments are merely a coincidence.”
“What legal or ethical trouble was Mike Turner facing that required he spend so much money in such a short period on lawyers and accountants? Miami Valley voters deserve to know the truth,” McGovern continued.
