Jobs

Wright Patterson Air Force Base is in the Seventh District.  It's the largest single site employer in the State of Ohio, and it represents 5% of Ohio's gross domestic product.  It brings good paying, highly skilled jobs, and state of the art research grants to our region and is a source of national pride for us all.

It's absolutely imperative that we work to strengthen the Base and to make sure that the programs and jobs promised during the last BRAC are actually delivered.

But it's not just about Wright Patt.  The rest of the Seventh District is having a difficult time, and we're not alone.  Almost all of Ohio has stagnated.  We're losing jobs, young people, and economic clout and we have to reverse the eight years of economic decline that we saw during the Taft Administration.

Governor Strickland and Lt. Governor Fisher are actively working to do this, but they need the support of all of the Ohio delegation to Congress.  Today, only seven out of the 18 Ohio members of the House are Democrats.  We need to increase that number and give Ohio more Democratic voices at the federal table.
