SHAREN NEUHARDT TO RUN FOR CONGRESS
Democrat Enters Race for Ohio's New Tenth District Congressional Seat
Dayton, Ohio, January 3, 2012 --
Sharen Neuhardt, a partner in the law firm of Thompson Hine LLP, will run for U.S. Congress in the newly-created Ohio Tenth District, which includes Montgomery and Greene counties.
"I am excited to announce that I am a candidate to represent the citizens of the Miami Valley in Ohio's new Tenth Congressional District," Neuhardt said. "We need new voices to break the stalemate that exists in Washington. I will work with community and business leaders, without regard to party affiliation, to do what's best for our community and our country."
Neuhardt, a Democrat, said that her priorities will be jobs, restoring our economic security, and protecting and strengthening Miami Valley workers and families. According to Neuhardt, "stated simply, this election will be about saving jobs, protecting jobs, and bringing more jobs to the Miami Valley."
Neuhardt said that this election also gives voters the opportunity to replace their current representatives in Washington who have been putting politics ahead of country. "Citizens of the Miami Valley deserve much more from our representatives in Congress than what we've been getting," Neuhardt added.
The daughter of a Dayton policeman, Neuhardt is a Dayton native who is a product of the Dayton public schools. After graduating from Northwestern University and the Georgetown University Law Center, Neuhardt returned to Dayton to practice business law. She has lived and worked in the Miami Valley her entire adult life.
Neuhardt was a candidate for Congress in Ohio's Seventh Congressional District in 2008, in a race that earned national attention and in which she was endorsed by Emily's List. In her 2008 race, Neuhardt received the endorsement of the Dayton Daily News, which called her the "smarter, bolder choice."
